If you see injustice going on, do not be silent about it. Because you’re just part of the problem. Silence means yes. And silence means it’s okay to let bad things happen. There’s a saying that goes, “the reason bad things keep happening is because good people do nothing about it.”
And if you see that something is not right and nobody is doing anything about it, I encourage you to be that change. Be the person that takes a stand. Be the person that speaks up against injustices. Don’t wait for somebody else to do that which you can do to make the world a better place for others.
It’s so easy for one to be a spectator of injustices. To be the person behind the curtains. The person watching from the background. The bypasser. The one that looks to see how things unfold. The one who knows that something is not right or something just doesn’t add up, but who’s too afraid to step out of their comfort zone. Maybe because they don’t want other people to feel uncomfortable. Maybe because they feel they’re not confident enough to say the right things.
Change is a process of transforming rules of behavior, cultural norms, and values. The process of change will always feel uncomfortable but is inevitable. It’s okay for you not to know what to do at the moment. To make mistakes. To say the wrong things. But doing nothing is worse. If you’re unable to take to the streets or set up an organization, why not use your voice to speak up against that which is not right. If you’re a blogger, vlogger, podcaster, or influencer, use your platforms for something good. Leave a legacy of social change. Wouldn’t it be nice to be on the right side of history by being the change you want to see in this world?
